The Tennessee Press Association has been working to promote a more literate society since 1976 through the creation of the TPA Foundation. The TPA is a partner to the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation for the promotion of Tennessee's statewide Imagination Library by encouraging the participation and support of 130 daily and non-daily member newspapers. The TPA and GBBF believe this historic partnership has resulted in tremendous community and statewide exposure for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

TTU ’s focus on innovative programs includes the BusinessMedia Center, located within the College of Business. For the Books from Birth project, the TTU BusinessMedia Center’s expertise helped develop innovative marketing solutions for a complex statewide program.
