Gael Lynch

Gael is a lifelong teacher, dedicated to promoting peace and harmony one child at a time in her own classroom. She currently teaches sixth grade language arts and world cultural studies, but has also taught much younger children in her tenure. The thread of writing and creative expression has been woven throughout the years of her teaching. Gael herself is a writer of middle grade and young adult fiction and is particularly interested in the lives and cultures of others as seen through the stories of the world’s people. Gael and her husband Tom have three grown children. Her proudest moment as a mom was bringing them back to Ireland for the first time where they stood on a hilltop in the very spot where her grandmother was born. Her hope is that the world’s children will become enlightened by the stories of the struggles and courage of the generations that have come before them in order to make peace the way of their future.
Gael and Tom are founding members of Bridges of Peace and Hope.

Cheryl Terry

Cheryl Terry is from New Zealand but  she has lived in and traveled to many parts of the world including Oceania, Asia, South America, the Middle East, Europe and northern Africa. She most recently taught fourth grade at the International School of Brussels in Belgium. Cheryl has been working with the Bridges of Peace and Hope project over the last two years. She believes that building ‘globally-minded’ students is essential in today’s world, and that it is especially important for international school students to realize the privileged position they hold in the global community and gain an awareness of those who are less fortunate than themselves. Her my classes have been involved in the Rwanda Project (involving the Imbabazi Orphanage), the Kapasseni Project in Mozambique, Heart to Heart Shanghai (raising money for a heart transplant for a disadvantaged child) and working with a migrant school in the outskirts of Shanghai, China. Cheryl believes that BoPH is a great way for students to be involved in projects that raise global awareness while also learning to express their ideas through writing, music and art. Prior to living and teaching in Belgium, Cheryl spent three years teaching 4th grade at an international school in Shanghai.
